Question Asked: We have this along the back yard. We just moved to this house in N.W. Lower Michigan, by Traverse City. Neighbors told us the people that built the house had grape plants but when they moved, the grape plants were dug up. This plant looks suspicious and I'm not sure what it is.

Answer: Hi Deb -

This is likely wild blackberry. This plant is opportunistic and will show up in disturbed areas, edges of plantings, overgrown flower beds, etc. You should be enjoying berries in a few months if you allow it to continue on.
