My husband and I recently cut up a very large tree that had fallen. The plan was to burn it in our woodstove. It was covered in bittersweet vines and also what must have been poison ivy because we have both now developed the rash. My question is, since the urushiol stays active on surfaces that it touches, what about the firewood we cut? Is it dangerous to burn it?
