The resin from the poison oak plant is extremely potent and resilent. The resin can remain on a dead plant or surface of something for up to five years! A quarter ounce of the resin is enough to infect everyone on the entire planet. I've been fighting my second bout (clearing brush) over the last several weeks, and its been in and around my eyes both times (seems to be from dust when pulling off of standing trees).
