You can indeed get poison ivy in the throat in mouth. This primarily has to do with your exposure to the urushioil and how it occurred. If were inadvertently exposed to the smoke from someone burning P.I., or were going through an area of thick undergrowth and had it swiped against your mouth and your mouth was open (the leaves would have to be damaged to expose the oil), you would definitely get it! Bad stuff.
