I distinctly recall convincing a friend of mine back in elementary school that we should roll around in the poison ivy to get out of school for a few days. I ate some of the stuff, too (figuring that it would make me so sick I'd be out for weeks)--she could not be coaxed into going that far.

Unfortunately, our little romp and my snacking gained me immunity and lost me a friend. I was so jealous she got out of school for a week. On the upside, I've been able to do all sorts of outdoor activities for years without thinking twice of passing through patches of the stuff. Looking back on it though, I'd have to say it was a pretty d@mned stupid thing to do. I guess that's why they say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
