I'm sorry to say that you are misinformed. The liquid from the blisters does not spread it. The oil from the plant is what can spread it. If the oil is on your hands/feet/bodypart, and you touch something, you can transfer the oil to the other object. If the object is in a dry place, they say the oil can stay there for decades. So to answer Shaun's question, yes it would be a good idea to have your carpet cleaned.
