Can you get poison ivy from wading in water through submerged plants? While kayaking on a river with high water, I got dumped out of the boat and swam toward the shore. I never got out onto land. I got back in my boat from the water, about thigh high, but I noticed the banks were covered with poison ivy and I was probably wading among submerged plants. I was wearing long pants, and scrubbed down with Tecnu as soon as I got home, but got a rash anyway. Later, I discovered that the river I was in is polluted and other people have gotten strange rashes from the water. Now I don't know if it was submerged poison ivy or something else in the water that gave me the rash. Can poison ivy be gotten that way?
