Most texts will tell you that only humans are affected by urushiol oil. It has to do with a more highly developed immune system. I did find a recent reference to the possibility that other animals may be susceptible but there was no substantiating evidence. Many animals actually love poison ivy plants for the fruit, leaves, stems, etc. The thing to remember about this rash though is that it is an immune system response - an allergic reaction.
