Hi, I am a novice on PI but am gaining lots of helpful information by reading through many of the postings. One site stated that one should not use hot water but this advice was given in relation to this question: "if one touches PI how best can one wash it off?" The explanation to avoid hot water and rather use cold was this: if you are exposed to PI and have the oil on your skin, using hot water opens your pores, making it easier for the oil to enter your pores and make the infection more systemic. One should wash off the oil quicky and with cold water. I am simply relaying information so I could be wrong. I hope this helps. Lee D
