Thanks for a great reply. I can't believe I missed the earlier thread about burning clothes. For goodness sakes! That's a bit drastic. Your method is almost identical to mine. The only difference seems to be that I do use dish detergent (Dawn is also my preference) for the tools, gloves and anything else that doesn't wash in the washing machine. The long PVC-coated gloves are the key here I believe for working in / around poison ivy.

As for the rubbing alcohol - it's one of the recommended treatments I've read about. The only issue is that you do remove your own natural oils (it's a solvent) so you need to be careful about not exposing that skin to urushiol oil or other irritants as it's now more sensitive.
