Hello "iamcanadian" -

My husband's canadian too (just had to throw that in :-)). I can't believe I missed answering this one. Thanks for the tips - I hadn't heard about hand sanitizer but makes sense to me due to the antibacterial and astringent properties.

Now for burning that bush - DON'T if you think there is any remnants of the poison ivy plant. Even the roots contain urushiol oil and airborne urushiol oil is far worse than the touched or weedwhacked kind as you can inhale it. You should consider using a brush-killer like Brush-B-Gon. You want something that will kill the roots otherwise it will return like a bad b-flick horror movie.
