Everything I've read so far says it takes several days to break out after first contact of PI; but I reacted almost immediately with some red splotches on my feet. They started to blister & itch just a few hours later. I think I was pretty lucky: I was answering a call of nature while canoeing at the time, so I hopped into the river a few seconds after I realized I'd walked thru a patch. The resulting rash is pretty mild - just a few little blisters here and there - and hasn't seemed to spread in the past 4 days (tho it's a little hard to tell, what with all the mosquito bites). I'm reasonably sure I've never been exposed before.

So, my question is: does an initial reaction this quickly indicate the possiblity of a more severe, possibly life-threatening, allergic reaction if I'm not so lucky next time? If it matters, I also have wicked seasonal allergies to many plants.

Is there anyone else out there that reacted this quickly the 1st time?

Also...I have to stand up in a wedding in a little more than a week...is there any possibility this mild a case might be healed by then (2 weeks after exposure)?

Many thanks in advance,
laura
