Jim, I think you are correct it's a generic name for all those sores and break outs on dogs. They can have them in winter as well as summer. The flea/tick preventors really help but some dogs still break out because of allergies to everything from soup to nuts. Grass being one of the many items dogs can be allergic to.

Jean, the spots look like hot spots, without getting a close up look I'd get an E-Collar from the pet store and try looking for the reason, food or environment allergies. Use the Aloe products once the E-collar is in place so Fido can't lip the sores. Good Luck
