No its not true about spreading to the rest of the laundry. As a matter of course, we normally wash our outdoor work clothes separately as they are pretty grungy and I like to do the super wash with a good detergent. Be sure to read How Soap Works and you'll see that if you use soap and water, the urushiol oil should go down the drain. Now if you packed your washer beyond capacity and the clothes could not properly wash, then I could see an issue. Lots of water and soap are the key here.
